No. Speech-to-text and the AI both run locally — no cloud processor, no third party, no telemetry on your conversations. Everything stays on your machine unless you deliberately switch the AI brain to a cloud provider, which is off by default and clearly labelled.
Optionally, yes. GabeeAI is local-first — it never ships with or sells you cloud access. But if your machine already has a cloud AI account set up (for example an NVIDIA or Anthropic API key you use for other tools), GabeeAI detects it and offers it as an extra choice for the AI brain. You switch to it deliberately, and the local model stays the default. If you have no cloud account set up, GabeeAI runs fully local and never even shows a cloud option.
The local model runtime is installed and managed for you; you don't need to set anything up by hand.
Install and open it. The first launch walks you through a one-time agreement and a quick setup — your name, light/dark theme, and Simple vs Advanced mode. Then press Record to start a session.
Simple picks the best AI models for your hardware automatically — recommended for most people. Advanced lets you choose the models yourself. You can switch anytime in Settings.
It separates voices on-device as you talk and labels them Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. Tap a label to rename it (for example, your client's name) or to mark a voice as you. The voice characteristics it uses are per-session and discarded when the session ends — no stored voiceprints.
Yes — type a question and it answers without breaking your flow. If you've loaded your own files, the answer is grounded in your material rather than a guess.
Point GabeeAI at a folder or files (case notes, contracts, docs) and its answers and suggestions draw from that material. Clear it anytime with the clear button on the Project row.
Yes. Point it at a window, your screen, or a camera and ask about what's on it — handled by a local vision model.
If you choose to record, the audio auto-deletes 7 days after the call unless you tap Keep. Summaries you save are kept until you delete them. Everything stays in a folder you control.
Recording or transcribing other people is regulated, and the rules vary by location — you are responsible for obtaining any consent or giving any notice the law requires before you record or transcribe. GabeeAI gives you a short consent line you can read at the start of a call (in Settings → Legal), but the responsibility is yours.
Give it a few seconds at the start of a session to warm up. Make sure your microphone and (for calls) system audio are reaching it, and that nothing else is monopolising the GPU. If a session ever seems stuck, stop and start it again.
